First it was the train and now it’s the flight. More connectivity is being added to make it convenient to access the city of the Taj Mahal. The Union Minster of Civil Aviation in the Government of India has assured air connectivity to Agra. This comes as a New Year’s gift to the tourism industry as the flight is expected to be introduced before the end of the year and Agra is finally bracing up for commercial flight operations after a gap of several years.
Given the inconsistencies of the operation of this flight in the past, it”s best to be watchful and see how it will all work out once the operations commence later this month.
An Air India flight is expected to commence operations to Agra with effect from 26th December 2012. The operation of this flight will continue until 29th March 2013 as per the following schedule. It may go off air during summer months. We will post new schedule for Winter Season 2013 once it is re-instated.
The above schedule makes it very convenient when travelling on the Delhi / Varanasi / Agra sector as you don’t have to go through Delhi to access Agra. You can now fly directly from Varanasi to Agra, provided your tour itinerary will coincide with the days of operation of the flight, which is Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The new flights also make it convenient to access Agra to Khajuraho by flight on these very same days.
