Journeys of a Lifetime, Dream Trips, Places to See Before You Die, call it what you will, the subject certainly fascinates the traveling public and the major publishers. December issue of Travel and Leisure covered 40 Trips of a Lifetime. Their this month’s issue includes Hikes of a Lifetime. The Amazon Bestseller List on Travel lists three titles on the subject, the tiles reading 500 World’s Greatest and other two 1,000 Places to See Before You Die. First impression that comes to mind is that 40 seems reasonable, 1,000 is wishful thinking, even for the French with their mandatory 6-weeks vacations per year, not to mention the overworked Americans. But never mind the reality whether one could do all, most or how many of the suggested trips, let’s ponder some of these destinations and experiences.
